In the late seventies, Nashua Homes presented a number of models
that broke the typical shotgun plan of the trailer. The move
to wider and wider trailers allowed Nashua Homes to create a trailer that was
14 feet wide. Rather than replicating the typical plan
with a corridor running the length of one side of the
trailer, Nashua Homes developed an open floor plan, allowing
the circulation flow to shift from side to side.

![]() The Nashua home models are not trailers per se. While they are certainly expressions of a trend in trailers towards larger spaces and more permanent foundations, they may well be considered the last of the trailers in this line of development. |
