Andres Duany & Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk
Rosa Vista

Lara Belkind
Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk approached the design of Rosa Vista, a "mobile home village," in the same manner that they have approached their new town developments. First they researched existing mobile home parks to find out what made them successful. They applied their findings to the project's site planning placing the units close together, creating common facilities, and defining the perimeter in order to foster a greater sense of community.

In keeping with their new town plans, they developed a hierarchy of circulation paths, which include pedestrian paseos and larger vehicular streets. They also designed a number of unit types.

Duany Plater-Zyberk's strategy, like Deborah Berke's is one of disguise and insinuation. By taking on a very conventional appearance, they hope to be able to place mobile home parks into the communities which have traditionally resisted them.
